- PlannedAutomatic handoff for Codex CLI and Kimi Code, as Claude Code has it since 1.0.3: near a limit the session ends after its current step, and the same conversation continues on the next account in your order with room, in the same terminal.
1.0.3
- Automatic handoff for Claude Code: when an account reaches 95 % of a limit and another account has room, the agent writes a short handoff, Altseat ends the session and resumes the same conversation on the next account, in the same terminal.
- On by default; turn it off in the Accounts window or with
altseat handoff off.altseat handoff statusshows the state andaltseat handoff on [--at <percent>]turns it back on, optionally at another threshold. - Altseat adds its hooks to
~/.claude/settings.json(they runaltseat hook claude) and keeps each handoff file under~/.config/altseat/handoff/;altseat doctorreports the hooks. - Codex CLI and Kimi Code do not hand over yet;
altseat handoff statussays so. - Onboarding, trust and CLAUDE.md includes acknowledgements given on the primary Claude account now also reach a secondary that holds a false default, so the next account does not ask again.
- The session resumed on the next account reads the handoff without a permission prompt; Altseat pre-approves only the Write or Edit of that one file, and its Read after the resume.
1.0.2
- Cmd+C, Cmd+V and the other Edit shortcuts work in every Altseat window.
- Open Altseat windows show in Cmd+Tab and the Dock; the Dock icon goes away when the last window closes.
1.0.1
- With the usage endpoint option on (off by default), Altseat reads each Claude account's session token through macOS's own security tool, which Claude Code already trusts, so no Keychain dialog appears, however many accounts you add or sign in to again.
- Install updates from the app: Check for updates offers Install and relaunch, verifies the download (sha256 and the Developer ID signature) and replaces Altseat in place.
- The app looks for updates 90 seconds after launch and once a day, and puts Update to <version> at the top of the menu when one is out.
- New
altseat update [--check]command that updates the Altseat.app it belongs to.
1.0.0
- Menu bar app and
altseatcommand line tool that keep several Claude Code, Codex CLI and Kimi Code accounts signed in on one Mac, one directory per account. - The
claude, codexandkimishell functions start the active account, or the next one in your order that still has room when the active one is at its limit. - Usage in the menu bar: Claude from its status line (or, opt in, Anthropic's usage endpoint), Codex from
codex app-server, Kimi sign-in state. - Free for two accounts with every feature; a license key, activated with
altseat activateor the License panel, lifts the limit.
